New horizons for photography
The French Ministry of Culture is organizing the 4th Parlement de la Photographie on June 8 and 9, 2023 at the Palais de Tokyo, Paris. The two-day event will feature round tables, mini-conferences and encounters around four themes that reveal the societal and cultural issues specific to the field of photography. Attentive to the industry’s current and emerging issues, the Parlement de la photographie strives to report on, explain and debate the subjects that drive photography and its ecosystem.
On Thursday June 8, from 2 to 3:30 pm, Philippe GUIONIE, director of Résidence 1+2, will take part in a round table discussion on the theme of « The Photographer-Author’s Journey », with a particular focus on the photographic residency as a place of creation and production of the common good.
Artists use an appropriate methodology and need time dedicated to experimentation and exchange with their peers or other fields and contexts. The places of residence are then conducive to these moments of reflection and production and often go beyond the simple invitation to occupy a space for a given period. The skills of the welcoming professionals are diversified and put to use in these « tailor-made » projects. Accompaniment, collaboration, co-participation, mentoring, the structures develop a number of mechanisms in a desire to create and produce the common.
