Photography & Sciences" creative residency in Toulouse from March 1 to April 30, 2024
Initiated by Philippe Guionie, since late 2015 Résidence 1+2 has been a festival of creative residencies combining photography and science, anchored in Toulouse and Occitanie, with a European vocation. Supported in their research by university (Université de Toulouse) and scientific institutions (CNRS Occitanie Ouest, Muséum d’Histoire naturelle de Toulouse, Cité de l’espace, etc.) and researchers based in Toulouse and its metropolis, as well as in Occitanie, each resident creates a personal and original work. They are also accompanied by a sponsor from the world of photography and science. By associating photography and science, the 1+2 Residency produces, enhances and promotes an auteur photography closely linked to the exceptional scientific heritage of the region.
Photographic creations are presented in October and November, in a number of different formats, including a series of exhibitions and a boxed set of three books published by Éditions Filigranes as part of the Toulouse collection. An inaugural week is organized around the Colloque national – Photographie & Sciences, where photographers, scientists, sponsors, journalists and the general public take part in themed round tables. In this way, the Résidence 1+2 stimulates shared social reflection, in a collective dynamic involving all audiences.
Deadline for receipt of applications: SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2023 at 7 p.m.
The future winners will be selected on the basis of the quality of their previous work, but above all on the relevance and feasibility of the proposed project in Toulouse, on the theme of “Photography & Science”.
The selection of the two young photographers for the 2024 edition will take place in two stages: a pre-selection jury and then a final jury, made up of personalities from the institutional, photographic and scientific worlds, as well as representatives of the specialized press.

- FINAL JURY (in public): October 15, 2023 (45-minute oral interview)
- ANNOUNCEMENT OF WINNERS: October 18, 2023
