Leslie Moquin is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie of Arles (2013), and of a Magistère de Relations internationales (MRIAE) from Panthéon Sorbonne, Paris (2010).
“For several years, Leslie Moquin has been developing a photographic work marked by the diversity of countries she has had the opportunity to travel along. The very bustling Shanghai, the strange silence of the Iraqi Kurdistan, the barrios exuberance of Colombian Caribbean, the melancholic atmosphere of Toulouse. Mixing documentary and poetic approaches in a careful equivocation, she goes beyond the spectacle of travel and exoticism to question what would constitute the profound plasticity of a territory, its aesthetic originality, favouring the emergence of a lucid, tailor-made poetry. Her work was exhibited in France and abroad, such as in the Recontres d’Arles (2017), Musée d’Art Moderne of Bogota (2017), Bazaar Compatible, Shanghai (2013), Agnès b., Montpellier (2015), Consular House of Mende, Lozère (2019).
“Qui Sème le vent” combines scientific archive documents (from Météo France and the Banlève Institute of Fluid Mechanics) and invented archives, miscellaneous facts and tall tales, found images and fabricated images. To restore the legendary autan wind, Leslie Moquin proposes a chimeric research, supported by real experiences, in search of the bad wind.
