Conversations with Eugène Trutat
Guillaume Herbaut, photojournalist and member of the VU’ agency, is the winner of the 1+2 Residence in 2022! For several months now, he has been working on an original series in partnership with the Toulouse Natural History Museum on the trail of Eugène Trutat. Eugène Trutat was a photographer, Pyrenean specialist, geologist and naturalist at the end of the 19th century, and a precursor of scientific photography. An exceptional collection of thousands of photographs on glass plates of everyday life from 1860-1910 is the starting point for Guillaume Herbaut’s approach.
Through his photographs, Guillaume Herbaut offers an aesthetic, technical and documentary account of animal and botanical species that have now disappeared. An exhibition will be held at the Château d’Eau gallery in Toulouse in 2023.
