CAMILLE CARBONARO: Born in 1989 in Marseille, Camille Carbonaro lives and works in Brussels. She is a photographer, bookbinder, founder of the independent publishing house Macaronibook and of the platform EATMYPAPER: self-publishing fair, micro-publishing and animation of workshops around the book object. After a theoretical training in photography at the University of Paris 8 and then in documentary image at the ESA le Septantecinq in Brussels, the question of the image-document quickly became part of her series. Her projects are articulated between fiction, reality and poetry. Identity, memory and the construction of the self are the themes addressed: photography and narrative embroider various scenarios and model a research on social evolution. For this, the modification and reinterpretation of images (collage, embroidery, found photography, archives…) give rhythm to Camille Carbonaro’s artistic approach. Each of her projects is a reflection on the display of images: the book-object becomes the core. Her research is a harmonious relationship between paper and images. The documentary dimension of her photographic work is combined with a plastic research through publishing. The book-object is a metaphor for memory and remembrance; and object that remains and is transmitted, the central point of her work.
